Dr Sophia Watts provides specialist dermatology care for adults with a wide range of skin and hair conditions. She has expertise in managing common inflammatory skin conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis, as well as autoimmune skin conditions and hair loss disorders. She also provides comprehensive mole and skin lesion assessments and performs dermatological surgery for both benign and cancerous skin lesions.
Dr Watts graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2012 and gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2018. She completed her specialist dermatology training at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, holds the Specialty Certificate Examination in Dermatology (2022), and is on the GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology. She is currently working as a Consultant Dermatologist at University College London Hospitals (UCLH).
Dr Watts has a particular interest in hair disorders and extensive experience in the assessment and management of hair loss and scalp conditions. For over seven years, she has cared for patients with a wide range of hair disorders through her work in the dedicated specialist hair clinic at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals, part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, where she continues to work specifically within the specialist hair clinic.
Alongside her NHS consultant role, Dr Watts sees patients at Clinica London. She is known for her warm and approachable manner and believes in taking the time to listen carefully to her patients, understand how their skin or hair condition is affecting them, and address the concerns that matter most to them. She works closely with each patient to develop an individualised and realistic treatment plan, with the aim of helping them feel informed, supported and confident in their care.
Dr Watts is also actively involved in clinical research, with work presented at national and international meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals. She is also actively involved in teaching and training resident doctors and allied healthcare professionals.
Dr Watts trained in general medicine in London before completing specialist dermatology training at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. She works as a Consultant Dermatologist at UCLH, where she provides specialist care across medical and surgical dermatology.
Dr Watts has an active interest in clinical research, presenting her work at national and international meetings and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. She remains actively involved in advancing evidence-based dermatological practice.
