Being told you may need eye, eyelid or tear duct surgery — or simply starting to wonder whether something is worth investigating — can feel unsettling. Knowing where to start is often the hardest part. At Clinica London, treatments and surgical care are always the end of a process, not the beginning. Every journey starts with a thorough consultation, an honest conversation, a clear diagnosis, and an explanation of all appropriate options — with no pressure to do anything at all.
We see patients across three specialities — eyes, eyelids and skin, children and adults — and all care is delivered by experienced consultants at our Harley Street clinic. Surgery is recommended only when it is genuinely the right answer. Here is a guide to what we treat and what you can expect.

Skin changes are easy to put off. A mole that looks slightly different, a lump that has been there a while, a lesion you keep meaning to get checked, or a new red, itchy scaly lesion — life gets in the way, and it feels easier to wait.
Skin is worth paying attention to. Many conditions are straightforward to treat when caught early, and a consultation is the only way to know what you are actually dealing with. In our experience, patients who come in early almost always have more treatment options.
Our dermatology team, including Dr Jennifer Crawley and Dr Rebeca Calado, manages a wide range of skin concerns surgically, including:
Most procedures are quick, carried out under local anaesthetic, and require very little time off afterwards. If something has been on your mind, it is worth a conversation.
Patient being assessed for watery eyes at Clinica London, Harley Street.
Watery eyes — or epiphora, as it is known clinically — are one of those things people tend to live with rather than investigate. Eyes that stream in the cold, water at inconvenient moments, constantly water, or feel permanently irritated: it can start to feel like just one of those things.
It often isn't.
While watery eyes are frequently linked to dry eye or environmental factors, in many cases the underlying cause is structural — a narrowed or blocked tear duct, or changes to the eyelid affecting how tears drain, such as eyelid muscle weakness and eyelid laxity. When these are the case, a relatively minor surgical procedure on the tear duct or eyelid can make a lasting difference to comfort and daily life.
Our lacrimal consultants Ms Jane Olver, Ms Lisa Jagan and Ms Michelle Ting will advise whether a larger tear duct drainage operation called a DCR (Dacryocystorhinostomy), or an eyelid tightening procedure is necessary and will make a difference to your troublesome watering.
Our oculoplastic team assesses and treats watery eyes as part of their specialist lacrimal work at our Harley Street clinic. They care for and treat watery eyes in both children and adults, of any age. We will always be clear about what is causing your symptoms and what your options are before recommending any treatment.
If watery eyes are disrupting your day, it is worth finding out why.

The eyelids are delicate structures that are more complicated than they look. They protect the eye, support clear vision, and for many patients play a significant role in how they feel about their appearance. Small changes — such as a drooping lid, an eyelid turning in or out, or excess skin and hooded eyelids that were not there a few years ago — can have a real impact on daily life.
A droopy eyelid — called ptosis — can interfere functionally with how much you see. Ptosis surgery can improve your visual field as well as cosmetic appearance and comfort.
Clinica London is home to an all-female oculoplastic surgeon team based on Harley Street: Ms Jane Olver, Ms Lisa Jagan and Ms Michelle Ting. Between them they bring decades of experience in both functional and aesthetic eyelid surgery, with a particular focus on results that look natural and work properly.

Blepharoplasty consultation at Clinica London, Harley Street.

Whether you have a specific concern or are simply not sure where to start, our consultants are here to help — with no pressure and no waiting.
Book a consultation nowNo. You can self-refer and book directly with us. If your GP has written to you or provided a letter, please do bring it along, but it is not a requirement.
Most of our consultants are fee assured with all major private medical insurance companies. Please contact us directly to confirm whether your consultant and treatment are covered under your policy, as arrangements can vary.
That is exactly what a consultation is for. Our consultants will assess you thoroughly and explain all appropriate options — both surgical and non-surgical — before making any recommendation. You will never be pressured to proceed.
The majority of our surgical procedures are performed under local anaesthetic, which means you are awake but comfortable and can go home the same day. Where appropriate, light sedation can also be arranged, or a full anaesthetic if required. Clinica London works closely with other private hospitals where anaesthesia is necessary. Your consultant will discuss all of this with you at consultation.
This depends on the procedure. Many skin surgery procedures require minimal downtime. Eyelid surgery such as blepharoplasty typically involves one to two weeks of visible bruising and swelling, after which most patients feel comfortable returning to normal activities. Your consultant will give you specific guidance based on your individual case.
Our surgeons take great care to minimise scarring. For eyelid procedures such as blepharoplasty or ptosis surgery, incisions are typically placed within natural skin folds — and in the case of certain ptosis repairs, on the underside of the eyelid where they are not visible at all. For eyelid skin excision surgery, your consultant will explain exactly what to expect before you proceed.
Your first appointment will be with a consultant, not a nurse or a patient coordinator. They will take a full history, examine you, and discuss your options clearly and honestly. Initial consultations are typically in the region of £300.
Yes, in many cases. Clinica London offers integrated care across ophthalmology, oculoplastics and dermatology under one roof, which means your consultant can often address multiple concerns or refer you directly to a colleague within the same visit. For most patients, this means no waiting for onward referrals, no separate appointments at different clinics, and no having to repeat your history from scratch. If a second opinion or a different specialism is needed, it is usually something we can arrange without you having to go anywhere else.
Our consultants see patients at every stage of the decision-making process. Some arrive unsure whether what they have is worth investigating. Some come for a second opinion. Some want a clear picture of their options before committing to anything. Whatever brings you in, you will leave with an honest assessment and a straightforward explanation of what we can offer.
