Lacrifill® is a soft, cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel developed by Nordic Pharma. It is gently introduced into the lacrimal canaliculus — the small tear drainage channel in the corner of your eyelid — using a fine cannula under local anaesthetic eye drops. Once in place, the gel slows tear drainage, allowing your natural tears to remain on the eye surface for longer.
The procedure takes only a few minutes and is painless. There is no surgery, no incisions and no downtime. The gel is preservative free, adapts to your individual anatomy, and can be removed at any time if needed. A single treatment provides up to six months of dry eye relief.

Your first Lacrifill® appointment is a thorough assessment of your dry eye symptoms, history and suitability for treatment. Your consultant will explain whether unilateral (one eye) or bilateral (both eyes) treatment is recommended and answer all your questions. There is no obligation to proceed.
Local anaesthetic eye drops are applied to ensure your comfort. Your consultant will then gently introduce the Lacrifill® gel into the lacrimal canaliculus of one or both eyes using a fine cannula, performed in the Clinica London treatment room. Lacrifill® treatment is a painless experience done as an outpatient. The procedure takes only a few minutes.
✅ Please allow approximately 30 minutes for your appointment in total, including time for the anaesthetic drops to take effect.
You can return to normal activities immediately. You may experience some temporary blurring from the anaesthetic drops — we recommend arranging alternative transport home and avoiding driving until your vision has fully cleared. You should continue with all your usual eye drops until advised otherwise. You should notice an improvement in your dry eyes from just a few days after treatment. Your consultant will advise on changes to eye drops, contact lens wear, and schedule your six-month follow-up.
